Documenting Haley and Andrew’s incredible Markland Wood Golf Club Wedding in Toronto was incredible. We kicked off the day at the Executive Hotel Cosmopolitan Toronto and all the girls were busy getting ready and looking fabulous! The small hotel room was bustling with 13 amazingly fun women all getting ready for there girl Haley’s special day. I was highly impressed by their ability to happily work around each other while getting beautified! Furthermore, the lack of space did not hinder the girls from practicing their epic dance routine for the reception. Now every time that I look at these photos, I get “Kiki” by Drake stuck in my head. LOL Thanks, ladies. With a bridal party of 18 people, I was feeling major #squadgoals. It’s obvious how much their peeps care about them, most of them came to Toronto all the way from the USA for the big day.
The ceremony was at the beautiful St. Ambros Parish. I just love being in a church, it doesn’t matter what faith it is. It’s in the smells, the colours, the textures and the history that gives me a feeling of deep inner peace. However, church weddings are challenging for some photographers due to the low lighting and using a flash in this intimate setting was not going to be ideal. I’m not afraid of bad lighting, I use my two Nikon D750 Full Frame cameras and they are hella powerful and take in low light perfectly! As a result, every single moment of the ceremony was perfectly captured.
So once the ceremony finished and we did the family portraits on-site, we hit the road. We ventured to Marie Curtis Park for the formals. Unfortunately for us, we hit the Friday afternoon Toronto traffic. Therefore, with limited time available, we hurried the crew and kept things super efficient to make sure Haley & Andrew got all the photos that we planned for. I find people take direction well when in good spirits and this crew was elated for their friends! Sometimes larger groups are harder to pose but everyone was on their best behavior for Haley & Andrew.
Probably my most favorite part of a wedding day is capturing the intimate photos with just the bride and groom. It gives my couples a moment to step away and just enjoy the fact that they are now Husband and Wife. Haley & Andrew brought all the fire and steam to their portraits as I candidly directed them. In one of the photos I had asked Andrew to think about his favorite body part on Haley and to show me with only his eyes, needless to say, his reaction was PRICELESS!
As it was getting close to time for the reception, we packed up and headed to Markland Wood Golf Club! This venue was nothing short of stunning, they did an exceptional job from the setting of the room to the superb dinner. The bridal party entry and first dance were totally EPIC, as the guys and girls both had rad tracks and dances planned and I can honestly say that Haley & Andrews first dance was my all time fave. It was like they were having a sexy dance party in their kitchen all alone, it was seriously the best. Their daughter Lily decided to join Mommy and Daddy and the whole room turned into butter as this sweet family danced to their favorite song.
This Toronto Wedding was one for the books. I hope there are many more to come just like it.
