For a Niagara Wedding Photographer, I actually seem to book a lot of Toronto weddings. Which is fine by me as I LOVE traveling to Toronto to document love stories. There is no shortage of amazing locations and backdrops and I get giddy with inspiration whenever I am there. Melissa & Paul’s Palais Royale Toronto wedding was everything and more!
I was a bit overwhelmed before Melissa and Paul’s big day. That weekend was a busy one for me as the next day I was flying out to Alberta to document my cousin’s Wedding! But I’m an uber coordinator, so I was well-prepped for this, and I had a great team with me. So I knew we could pull it all together with ease, and that we did!
Melissa, Paul and I connected right away. We first met over Skype and connected over traveling adventures, fitness, being nerds and our love of dogs! As a result, when we met for their Toronto engagement session it was even clearer that they were my kind of people, we had the best time and to this day have continued to keep in touch over social media. They have been such awesome supporters and cheerleaders of my work and I truly value their friendship.
Their wedding day was nothing but pure joy! Both of them have the most infectious smiles, they are such a down to earth and caring couple. It was no wonder they each had some pretty awesome people standing up with them.
Walking into the Palais Royale Toronto made me incredibly giddy! It’s such a unique and elegant space. I just love their art deco inspired ceiling and accent pieces, they really grabbed my attention. You can feel the history in this place. Originally built in the 1920’s it was a happening hotspot for many great historic musicians. Since then, it’s now revitalized with a mix of classic and modern elegance, they host weddings and events and are an inclusive venue to all.
The other best part of the day for me was the wedding party portraits. Everything was timed perfectly so that we were documenting the portraits during what we in the industry call, “golden hour”. It’s the perfect time for lighting and I just love how the portraits turned out. We decided we didn’t need to venture far for photos because the Palais Royale is right on the Parkway Boardwalk! With stunning gardens, trees, boardwalk and the beach, our options were endless.
All in all, Melissa and Paul’s Palais Royale Toronto Wedding was easily one of my faves in 2019. I could not wait to get them their photos and even though I was traveling the next day, I still managed to get them their sneak peek the next day and their entire complete gallery 1 week later!
