It was a balmy -9 on January 12, 2019 for Krissy and Brent’s Hernder Estate Winery, Winter Wedding. For us Canadian’s it was darn cold, but for the Kiwi’s from New Zeland, it was pure torture. Even with the frigid temps outside, inside everyone’s hearts were warm with love for this special couple. I started off my day at the Groom’s location to grab a few snaps of the guys getting ready. I was happy to arrive to find the bride had already set up her grooms accessories for me. Neatly arranged Pinterest worthy accessories tickles my heart. As a hella organized girl myself, this made my morning.
As the guys started getting in their suits, in arrived my new friend and colleague, wedding cinematographer Dave Tebbutt! I had been hearing about him for years and was excited to finally meet and work with him! We had fun with the boys, documenting all the fun and shenanigans while they struggled to get ready. You could tell Brent was a tiny bit nervous but mostly excited to get on the road to see his bride to be. After a touching moment of opening a gorgeous gift (a stellar watch) from his bride to be, Dave and I were on our way to Krissy and the girls at a near-by AirB&B!
Since Krissy and Brent now live in New Zeland, there weren’t too many places in town for them to get ready at so Krissy rented a gorgeous Air B&B for her and her gal pals! This place was the perfect unique location with Pinterest worthy design and ample space for all. We got #allthefunshots and #preciousmoments here. Krissy and the girls looked incredible, all credit goes to the amazing Jenn from Simply Stunning Hair + Makeup, she and I have worked together on several weddings and I could not recommend her more. Jenn and her team are uber talented and truly awesome people.
Even for a Winter Wedding, Hernder Estates does not disappoint. Angel and the staff there are truly amazing and really know how to make everyone right at home. Krissy & Brent were married in the upstairs room in front of the fireplace. I was excited when I arrived to find that their officiant was Cathy Davis, she is wonderful and is always a pleasure to work with. But before walking down the aisle they needed to have their first look! Krissy and Brent wanted to do a first look for a few reasons:
We decided the best option and location for their bridal party portraits was at Hernder Estate Winery. The location is gorgeous in any season and there was the option to run inside in between takes to warm up, plus no travel time before the ceremony. There is an adorable barn on site at Hernders where we did the first look and the bridal party portraits. Despite being frozen from the bitter cold, the Kiwi’s were true champs! Just a total blast and we had a great time getting all of the beautiful shots you see below.
I can’t say enough great things about this Hernder Estate Winery Winter wedding, it was truly an honour documenting their day and working with Hernder Estates Winery! Want to see more of my weddings? Check out Brittany & Eric’s wedding at Carmen’s Banquet Centre!
